I’ve been a makeup hoarder for the longest time I can remember. I’ve been that person who grew from no sense of makeup or a trained make up artist by London School of Media Makeup. I did the two day crash course as BAFTA’s were around the corner and our teacher/makeup artist was fantastic. I learnt everything from easy strokes, to colour correcting, hygiene to some of the best kept secrets of beauty industry! P.S. Soap Brows are real and they are pretty fantastic for girls and guys who want that fuller-feathered natural eyebrow look.

Anyway, over the years from being a make up addict to now (almost nearing the age of 30’s) I can say with a lot of confidence that I am done with my share of trail an error.

With age one realises that letting your skin breath is very important and so is looking presentable at any given day. But that does not mean we have to pile up layers and layers of makeup which without a good CTM (check out my blog post on this) suited to your skin type, you might end up breaking out or your skin might just not be happy.

Now, I have finally achieved a balance between skincare and makeup. Especially that quick everyday makeup! You know what I’m talking about.. a quick make up mix that makes you look alive and adds some colour to your face. What do they say..?? Ah! To add the “zzuzh” 😉

In this article I am going to share the products I use for myself, along with a sneakpeak into Ms. Joanna Huang, Communications Manager – The Estée Lauder Companies Inc (India) instagram stories where she shares her quick fix too.

But, before I get onto share my everyday makeup stash, I would like to talk about Joanna. Every brand launch under the flagship of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. in India eg. Estée Lauder, Clinique, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Tom Ford Beauty, Michael Kors and much more, is where you will find Joanna. I only know her virtual account, but the fact that she works so intimately with these incredible brands for a living, tells me that she must have had the chance to work with worlds best makeup artists and been part of many beauty secrets. Besides, her instagram account is fun!

I myself have been a huge fan and ardent users of so many products from Estée Lauder Companies Inc that I’ve lost count now. So let’s dive into her #everydaymakeup shall we?

EVERYDAY MAKE UP ROUTINE – QUICK FIX

Products mentioned –

  • Estée Lauder Double Wear Concealer (Superhit Product)
  • Victoria Beckham x Estée Lauder Lipstick (Superhit Collaboration. It’s Victoria Beckham! What do you expect? The packaging of this line was stunning. Even better than Tom Ford Beauty)
  • MAC Cosmetics Teddy Eye Pencil (Superhit Product/Beauty Industry Secret)
  • Smashbox Superfan Mascara (Superhit Product)
  • MAC Lingering Brow Pencil (Superhit Product/Beauty Industry Secret)

I would say, coming from Joanna and her job profile, this seems to be a very humble and honest selection of products. I don’t think she’s trying to popularise Estée Lauder products. But, these are some interesting and very tailored choices for her. I like it. However, I would have liked to know which setting powder did she use to set her concealer because common! no concealer can stay put without a setting powder.

I can see how quick her everyday get ready must be! These selections of products are perfect for her. They do the job, quick and easy. I assume she either uses her fingers or synthetic makeup brushes to do her makeup. Quite frankly, it’s not that difficult at all as how these Youtuber’s and makeup artists tend to portray to people. Just make your own regimen, find products that suit your skin type and skin tone and you are good to go.

Cost of all her products put together – 8k + (Rs.8,000+ )

Now, let’s get to me. I am a working young woman, with skin issues of her own and some silly acne scars here and there. Quite frankly, I do not care about those marks anymore. Any how, I like it quick easy and fast like Joanna when it comes to my #everydaymakeup . But before I get to it, I make sure I have a good skincare regimen. At least with the basics like moisturising cream and sunscreen 30 SPF +++ .

I follow this simple everyday makeup routine on a good moisturised skin –

  • concealer
  • setting powder for concealer
  • brows – brow promade/gel eyeliner
  • eye liner
  • blush

This is truly my 5 step makeup cycle everyday. Effective, easy and fun. The products are use are very simple again and nothing indulgent –

Maybelline New York Fit Me Concealer – 25 Medium

Surprising enough this concealer matches my skin tone almost perfect. The combination of this and my setting power just seals the deal. I use my fingers to apply this product. I try not spreading the product with pressure, as it does tend to feel a little coarse when you do that on your under eyes. Otherwise, it’s value for your buck.
Maybelline New York Fit me Loose Finishing Powder – 20 Light Medium

I just can not leave the house without setting my under eye concealer with a setting powder. This is my go to powder. Very fine and just stays well on the skin for a long time. It’s a setting powder, so there isn’t much to say about it anyway. However, the powder is tinted and it’s lighter than my skin tone. But the mix of the concealer (supra) and this setting powder, does the trick for me like no other.
Incolor Water Proof Gel Eye Liner (Jet Black)

Well, I bought this product off Nykaa whilst I was on a hunt for a good gel liner. I got this product but found it too dry to be used as a gel liner. Instead, its colour pay off and texture was perfect for a brow liner. I like to fill in my brows with a brow promade, rather gel liner in this case. It gives them structure and fullness which I absolutely love. Its water proof and sweat proof I believe. It doesn’t budge and does what it’s supposed to. The brush comes in very handy while filling your brows.
Lakme Insta Eye Liner

This one is a oldie but a goodie! Whenever I want to get that feline look or get a nice catty eye (winged eye), this is the only product I reach out for. Its cheap and cheerful. Plus, its water proof. So no matter what, this baby is not budging. It truly gives you those precise slim lines as you want, but your grip has to be steady for that. Slow and steady. One can never be perfect with liquid liners. It’s always tricky. Like the tale of two lost sisters, just that they are on our face.
MAYBELLINE Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner

This is an alternative to liquid liner if you prefer. This has been my go to liner for the longer time ever. Its smudge proof, looks lovely and easy to apply. I like fast products and this is one of them. If you are wary of using liquid liner, I’d suggest this one because even me on days when I am in absolute rush and have no time or patience for a winged eyeliner, I just reach out for this. Quick, easy, go!

As for blush, I used to use PAC Studio Cream Blusher – 01 its a gorgeous rosy colour that makes your face come alive. Natural looking and fabulous. However, I have run out of it for a while now and am using a rosy lipstick from my collection as a blush. Multipurpose products. There are no rules in makeup. You wear it and wash it off later. So make do with what you have until to get the time to stock up!

Cost of all my products together – 5k I suppose (Rs.5000 roughly)

So that’s a wrap for todays article. A lengthy one for a topic of 5 mins, 5 products for everyday look. I apologise, but I hope you enjoyed it! This may not be the french way, but definitely a great way. Perhaps try out some of these products/regimen when you get the time and let me know your feed back. Till the next post, be safe and have fun!

xoxo
